Round 5 of the WMBC XC Series was held on Sunday 14th June. The race start was changed from the regular 9:00am to after 10:00am in order for some track maintenance to take place.

Thankyou to all who turned out to tweak the track. Some mention should go to Pete Sanderson for helping "Are you Scott" to scope out a potential downhill track and wield the brush cutter with impressive skill, Dave McMurdo for ably directing a heap of willing helpers to smooth the lines at the drop offs and cut a new line to avoid the sandy bend just before the entry to the drops, Jamie Quayle for lugging a couple of pallets to where they would be useful and Andy Wise for slinging the chainsaw and removing the felled tree at the first creek crossing, there are far too many people who helped to mention here, but they were rewarded with free entry to the race for the day to show our appreciation for their efforts.

Thanks also to Derek O'Connor for helping out with timing and the hot cuppa and Linda for heading into Appin town and supplying the dognuts and tea cake, awesome.

The race went off well with a little improvisation and all went home happy with their efforts. The track was fast today with just enough moisture to make it firm, quick and fun. Surprise of the day was the performance of Dan Palmer who lead Dougie Pollock for a bit before Doug snuck past to take out the "win" for the day. There seemed to be a lot of happy riders out today.
As you may be aware this Sunday 21st June Bright Orange Event are running round 3 of the Working Week Series at the track. Check out the details at their website here.
